Influence of the canal width and depth on the resistance of 750 DWT Perintis ship using CFD simulation

Introduction

I spend almost 4 months on this research as my final project for my bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture. This research discusses the effect of ship resistance values when passing through canals with variations in depth and width dimensions of canals using CFD (computational fluid dynamics) methods.

Short Summary

The results of this study show that the ship will significantly increase the value of the total drag when sailing in a narrow and shallow channel. This is because the bow hits the accumulation of fluid, which decreases in speed, so that the bottom of the ship has an increase in flow velocity and at the same time the pressure at the bottom decreases.
